Redsn0w is a well-known jailbreak tool developed by the Dev Team. Initially released in 2008 called QuickPWN, Redsn0w download managed to make its way on millions of Apple devices on the whole world. Since it offers support for both Mac and Windows OS, Redsn0w gathered a large number of users and followers.
If you plan to download Redsn0w to perform a jailbreak, do not worry since the tool is actually pretty simple and easy to use. In fact, the entire process of using this amazing tool for performing tethered or untethered jailbreak on your iOS-running device is actually quite simple.
Now, before we proceed, you need to know the difference between tethered and untethered jailbreak. The first one means that you must reboot your device in a jailbroken state each and every time the device is turned off. On the other hand, the untethered jailbreak is performed only once, and then, you do not need to perform jailbreak once again, if you turn off your device.
Therefore, in order to start untethered jailbreak on your smart device, all you need to do is to download Redsn0w and launch it on your computer while you connect your device using a USB cable. It is worth mentioning that, in the past, when you performed jailbreak on any iOS device, you risked of losing the unlocked status.
Now, with a simple Redsn0w download, you will also gain plenty of other interesting features such as saving the baseband; enter DFU mode or making use of the Pwned DFU state. Saving your baseband is quite important if you want to unlock your device or downgrade to a previous firmware.
Redsn0w grants us the possibility to save the SHSH blobs. Called “stitching”, it is an important feature that allows us to create an all encompassing IPSW firmware file that can always be used regardless of whether or not Apple is still signing that particular firmware. In this way, you will combine both the firmware file with the SHSH blob for that particular device to allow you to download any time you want.
This procedure is much recommended being performed every time a new firmware version is released by the Cupertino-based company. It will ensure that you can always go back to a previous version of firmware with minimum steps; in the case, you do not like a particular firmware version on your device.
Download Redsn0w to Install Cydia

As a matter of fact, when you perform jailbreak using Redsn0w 0.9.15b3, you will have the option of adding Cydia. Even with this, the whole process takes less than 5 to 10 minutes.
For those of you who still do not know, Cydia is a third-party app store for jailbroken device, which offers users plenty of jailbreak apps, tweaks, and games to download. Some of these tweaks are actually completely free of charge and pretty useful. One of the main reasons why people still choose to jailbreak their brand new iDevices is to get access over Cydia Store, to download all those impressive apps and tweaks.
Moreover, Cydia allows you to customize your iPhone with custom themes, icons and a lot more which Apple usually does not allow.
